A Recovery of the Planet with Frazee Paints
Over the past number of weeks I’ve been hearing a lot about this stimulus package, which is actually called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009, or simply ARRA09. There are going to be hundreds of billions of dollars being divvied out and reinvested through numerous agencies and groups. I’m not sure how I feel about it completely, but I can tell you I noticed a few nuggets that caught my attention. I don’t have all the details at this point, but I’m sure I’ll find them. The internet can be a powerful tool.
To paraphrase the heck out of it, nearly 9 billion of the funds is being sent to rehab schools, and will be available to governors. Ultimately the plan is to repair the schools to be consistent with a recognized green building rating system. Further to that, an additional 4.5 billion will be used for measures to make General Services Administration facilities ‘high-performance green buildings.
I won’t try and estimate how many jobs it will create, or how many jobs it will save, but what it does for sure is clean up the toxicity of some pretty old buildings.

I have a long way to go with reading more details of the ARRA09 Plan, but from what I have read quickly, I can certainly say I’m leaning toward being in favor of it. Who knows, we might even get some work out of this, and isn’t that what the plan is supposed to be about?
